Bloozman Sez...

I'm still listening to Scrub Jay's "best of 99" recording, by our own Hamilton Sarain. Very interesting ! It's an "uneven" recording, on "low noise" cassette tape, but pretty good overall. The music is "world" themed, some tracks are simply rhythmic grooves without a beginning or end, they just fade out. I haven't figured out a "favorite" yet, but She Is An Island is right up there...although I might have cut back on the electric guitar solos a bit. She Is A Dub is an alternative version that's kinda cool too! World Traveler is another one I like...Hamilton's music is, to me, the kind where you feel the rhythms and want to participate, to add your own influence at the same time you want to be influenced by it...or am I just weird? The only credits given are Hamilton - vocals, guitars, bass, percussion; Kevin Sesma - bass, rhythm guitar, keyboards on 3 tracks; David "Chip" Crowe (of BT Media - btmedia@fastwave.net) - mastering. It sounds like the recordings were made on various equipment...and not always "quality" equipment, but the end result is quite good overall. I consider it $5 well-spent!

Artist's Response...

Diamond Dave You are the shit! Thanks for being such a vet. Your comments on Hamilton's project really made us feel like our work is appreciated beyond the local realm. You have a great musical knowledge and the tips are honest- often people are afraid to tell it how it really is due to the fact that they don't want to hurt feelings. But, no musician can get very far without taking constructive criticism and then ACTING on it. This is how average bands become great, by listening to what is being said AND LEARNING from it. We hope you like the next offering, it will definitely be at a higher standard than the first release- a continual growing expansion into the cosmos of harmony and peace through sound. Thanks again- and we would like a copy of Riz'z stuff- he is our hero!
